Online Application Guidelines

The foundation only accepts online applications through this website. For more information, please check the foundation's deadlines.

No supplementary paper materials are accepted.

The foundation cannot accept applications from organizations with a fiscal sponsor or whose tax-exempt status is pending. Organizations applying for a grant must have received an IRS determination letter.

Step 1: Log in or Register

Enter Applicant and Organization Contact information

All applications must include:
1) Executive Director’s name, address, telephone and email
2) Name and title of person completing the application
3) Organization’s website

For grant writers and consultants, please include the Executive Director’s information in the Organization’s Contact section

Enter project/program name or purpose of your application.

If the organization is applying for General Operating Support, please enter GOS.
   
Q2. Amount Requested  
Provide the dollar amount requested. The Foundation’s grants range from $10,000 - $25,000.  
   
Q3. Grant Purpose  
Choose the area that best represents the organization's request.

Choose category that represents the organization’s mission and the project/program for which funding is requested.

If organization has received funding in the past, please list funding year(s) and grant amount(s) starting from the most recent grant received.

Example: 6/09: $10k; 3/08: $5k; 2006: $2,000 (disc grant)		  
   
Q7. Program Budget Amount  
If the organization is applying for Program Support, Capital Support or Other, indicate the dollar amount of the program budget for 2011-2012 fiscal year.  
   
Q8. Organization Budget Amount  
Indicate the dollar amount of the organization's budget for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.  
   
For Q9-Q11: It is recommended to use MS Word count (under tools) before copying and pasting the text to the Introduction, Mission & History, and Proposal sections of the application.   
   
Q9. Introduction (2,000 characters maximum)  
Provide a brief introduction of the organization including the Executive Director's name and contact information.
 
   
Q10. Mission and History (4,000 characters maximum)  
Provide a brief description of the organization's mission and history.
 
   
Q11. Proposal (4,000 characters maximum)  
Provide a brief proposal which outlines the project/program, for which the funds are sought.

This should include a detailed account of how the funds will be utilized, a history of the program, and its goals and objectives.

All applicants are required to submit a proposal including organizations applying for General Operating Support.
 
   
Q12: Links to Websites & Images (optional question for art organizations only)  
Provide links to websites and/or images in reference to your proposal. Non-art organizations, please leave blank.  
   
For Q13-Q18: All files must be saved as PDF documents in the following order: organization’s initials_type of file.pdf (Example: ABC_board.pdf)  

 

  
Q13. Board of Directors  
Upload a list of the organization's Board of Directors as a PDF file (2MB file maximum).

The list should include each board member's occupation/title and length of service.

Upload the organization's most recent audited financial statement or 990 as a PDF file (5MB file maximum).

The audit or 990 should not be older than 15 months.

 
   
Q18. Funding sources (received & projected)  

Upload a comparison list of all received and projected funding sources for the years 2010, 2011 & 2012 as a PDF file (3MB file maximum).

1- Organize list by type of support: foundations, corporations, government, individuals, board of directors.
2- Include foundations and corporations name and dollar amount. For individual and board support, only list the aggregate dollar amount.
3- Specify if amount was received or if it is projected.
4- If organization is applying for Program Support, Capital Support or Other, please include funding sources for the entire organization and for the specific project/program.

  
   
Step 5: Click Save as Draft to Save and Review

The online application closes at 5pm on March 15, August 15 and December 15. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit your application.

Upon application submission, applicants receive a confirmation email within a week.
